ABOUT THE ALBUM
2016 release. Beautifully recorded and cinematic in scope, Songs From Before carries a pensive, emotionally resonant tone. Punctuated by Robert Wyatt's distinctive readings of Haruki Murakami's text, the music evokes forgotten memories or lost histories, bittersweet articulations suspended between a dreamy sense of awe and melancholia. Richter's compositions, created over a long period, draw from pieces ranging between 5 and 300 years old.
