ABOUT THE ALBUM
The Annapolis Brass Quintet, founded in 1971, was the first full-time performing brass ensemble in the U.S. This CD is a remaster of the the original LP. The pieces, mostly written for the group, are some of the strongest and most powerful works ever written for brass. Sprenkle's Six Songs bring out the pathos and beauty of Dickinson's prose. Sapieyevski's Aesop Suite is a delightful rendition of five of Aesop's Fables. Heussenstamm's Ensembles for Brass Quintet won numerous awards. Starer's Annapolis Suite and Allanbrook's Night and Morning Music are strong additions to the brass repertoire.
