Make You High

JT and Lance showed up in L.A together, relocating from Chicago. Originally from Dallas, JT & Spencer (Gemini) were good friends growing up in Texas and when Kincey made the move from Dallas to Chicago, both Lance & JT soon followed.My link with them both came from another Dallas native Cpen who had worked on the "Defunct" track with JT for the Pacific Coast House double pack that I released on Beatnonstop Recordings. I had literally just started the PCH & Beatnonstop labels and was looking for new artists and the timing of them pulling up was perfect.The two lads started working at Beatnonstop in the heart of Hollywood on Melrose Ave and we all soon became fast friends. Chris (Cpen), Lance, & JT moved in together west of the store and set up 3 separate bedroom studios. They worked on their own projects, as well as collaborating on other projects with each other under different aliases. "Make You High" came out of JT borrowing one of my Roland 303's for the weekend and came back to the shop Monday with this absolute barn BUSTER!The looping background noise coupled with the rhythmic drums draw you in and you're suddenly locked with a stomping kick drum and then a low throbbing 303 Bassline. Some staccato stabs soon follow and then the hooky vocal keeps you fixated before another 303 line creeps in and sets you up for heavy heavy B-line. What we used to call a "Chuggy Dearth Stomper" just causing all kinds of ruckus on the dancefloor!The flipside see's the dub get worked out in a slightly different format & flavor before handing off to the cursive side to side groove of "Time to Have Fun." Samples of local astrologist Gahl Sasson beckoning that "it's time to have fun" loop & lull you into a trance while breathy female vocals wander in & out before a fat chuggy B-line drops and then a groovy 303 Acid line lays across the top like whipped cream on top of a trifle. Proper after-hours material in this never released track. The first E.P so far and full of late night acid goodness. Remastered by the renegade master himself Martin Iveson.
