All audio for this album was restored from director J.R. Bookwalter's Original Source Material, and mastered for vinyl. Bookwalter began his career in 1985 at age 19 with The Dead Next Door, an ambitious zombie epic financed by Sam Raimi, Raimi served as executive producer on the film under the pseudonym 'The Master Cylinder' using a portion of his payment from Evil Dead 2. Bruce Cambell supervised post-production sound and dubbed the voices of two characters, Raimi and Cmdr. Carpenter. The movie was produced over nearly four years, in Akron, Ohio. Although unsure of the exact figure, in an interview director J. R. Bookwalter estimated that the film cost $125,000 to produce. The film was shot on Super 8mm which is an amatuer grade film generally only used for making home movies, The film is notable for highly graphic gore effects. An inventive scientist has created the ultimate virus: it takes over and replaces a corpse's cells, using it as a slave to keep supplying it's favorite dish... HUMANS! When the virus goes awry, the government fights back by creating a crack team of soldiers called The Zombie Squad. Their mission: save the humans, and seek out and destroy the dead! From the streets of Washington, D.C. to the fields of Virginia and on to the suburbs of Akron, Ohio, our heroes fight a non-stop struggle for life and death, along the way stumbling onto an insane religious cult bent on keeping the dead alive until the day comes for their ultimate mission...
