ABOUT THE ALBUM

'Crystalline vocals smudged with smoke and soul, Sutton Sorensen carefully carves her niche between ambient retro-pop vocalist and sultry singer/ songwriter.' This Portland-grown musician evokes the purity and ease of Alison Krauss and Norah Jones, with the languid tones of Sade. Engineer Steve Sundholm (Lady Antebellum, Jim Brickman) says, 'Sutton's vocals are smooth and compelling.' As a songwriter she lyrically conjures images of bittersweet personal experiences with unconventional harmonics. Sutton's debut album, Long, Long Time, features an artful combination of three original compositions and six popular cover songs. An arrangement of lesser-known folk tune 'So Says the Whippoorwill' is the sweet centerpiece of an otherwise hauntingly performed, soulful album. The remaining covers highlight forty years of popular music, tying an original knot with the acoustic folk style of Joni Mitchell and the ambient sound and world music blend of Peter Gabriel. Long, Long Time showcases the intricacies of Sutton's vocals, which range from ethereal to emotionally laden, often resulting in a surprising blend of these natural opposites. Recorded at Kung Fu Bakery Recording Studios and produced by venerated guitarist/composer Tim Ellis (Craig Carothers, Michael Allen Harrison), the project was engineered by Sundholm (Lady Antebellum, Jim Brickman), Dean Baskerville (Sheryl Crow, Pink Martini) and Bob Stark (Everclear, Esperanza Spalding). Sundholm also mixed and mastered the record, which helped unify the challenges of such a versatile project. 'Sutton's voice is a tender, beautiful instrument. Whether singing a cover song or one of her thoughtful originals, she is owning every syllable with a deft touch plus oodles of heart and soul.' - Tom Grant, Recording Artist Publicity: Sorensing Music, SorensingMusic@gmail.com Produced by Sutton Sorensen and Tim Ellis Engineered by Steve Sundholm, Dean Baskerville & Bob Stark Mixed & Mastered by Steve Sundholm Recorded at Kung Fu Bakery Recording Studios, Portland, OR Artwork by Christen Derr (Cravedog), Sutton Sorensen & Margeaux Collins Photography by Joe Aimonetti
