Michael Engberg has traveled across the globe, bringing his songs and stories to delighted audiences at clubs, coffeehouses, college campuses, fairs, festivals and farmer's markets. Michael is an insightful songwriter whose lyrics demonstrate a keen eye for the world around him, and an elegant fingerstyle guitarist, playing original compositions as well as exciting arrangements of folk, Celtic, jazz, pop, and classical guitar repertoire. His shows are peppered with tales of how he came to write a particular piece, or where he found a certain song in his travels. Through his own production company, Many Hats Music, Michael does, indeed, wear many hats. In addition to his talents as a guitarist, singer and songwriter, he produces and releases his CD's on his own independent record label, Many Hats Recordings, including his most recent efforts (Aug 2013), Collage and Collidoscope. Collage is a collection of instrumental guitar works that features some Celtic and classical guitar works mixed in with his original compositions. Collidoscope is a new batch of his songs observing the plight of those struggling to make ends meet, the pratfalls and pitfalls of celebrity culture, the dubious allure of French fried hamsters (on a corn dog stick, no less), and much more. Each track has a place or story - Le Soleil was a sunset in Paris while sitting on a houseboat; Rufus is the joy of watching a puppy race for a ball; Contemplation is an homage to those who worship silently; Spinning on a Blue Planet was a promise of health restored; and Casper Mountain Blue Moon was watching a magnificent moonrise on the top of a mountain, with friends, good food and wine. The traditional and classical pieces also have stories; friends who love them, memories of the first time they were played and events that have special meaning where they are always requested.
