ABOUT THE ALBUM

After having worked with Warren G on a remake of "Let's Get It On" for a Motown records "Marvin Gaye tribute" album, that unfortunately never saw the light of day, Long Beach vocalist, Demo, is singing about his own Inner City Blues on his debut project "Soul Power ". "Soul Power ", is a sweet melt down of the soul that has Demo masterfully transforming life's transgressions and dilemmas into a melodic testimony. As a singer/songwriter, his lyrics express the raw honesty and emotion felt in his rich vocals as he sings of the perils of love, life and inner-city living. "When I write, I do it from the perspective of the listener", says Demo. "If you can't write music that people can feel and relate to then no one is going to listen. I want all my fans to know that everything I write is for them, so they can feel it and relate to it." Born the son of a musician, Demo's music ability comes naturally. Constantly playing the bass, guitar, keyboards and making beats on projects for friends is what earned him the name Demo. "When I used to work at VIP records," he explains, "My boy Scotty B, who was a local dj, said that since I was able to play so many instruments and do so many different things I was like a walking demo, so he started calling me that, and the name stuck." With musical influences that range from Lionel Richie, Donny Hathaway and Gospel great, Fred Hammond, to Toto and the Doobie Brothers, Demo's sound is as well rounded as his musical ability. "I came up in the MTV generation so I like a lot of 'blue eyed soul'. My vocal style comes from listening to Fred Hammond, but I get my writing style from all other types of music." "Soul Power " is definitely a demonstration of his all around musicianship. With the help of Los Angeles' hottest upcoming producer Teddy Harmon, "Soul Power "fuses various genres, eras and sounds to create a musical gumbo simmering with flavor. "Soul Power" the single will remind you of a Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye sound. "Love Me Right, Do Me Wrong" is the unrequited love of a man giving his all to an appreciative lover. "On and Poppin ". has Demo convincingly portraying his life growing up in Long Beach. Up tempo groove, or sensual ballad, Demo delivers each song with heart, conviction and an appealing vulnerability that everyone at one time has experienced. Introducing the return of the soul singer, Demo's emotional debut delivers. "I try to live my life as a reflection of the most High and I want my music to exemplify the spirit of the most high. If I'm going to be a demonstration of anything in the world I can't think of anything better to reflect in than myself and my music."
