Known around the world as a legend of Mississippi music, Jimmy "Duck" Holmes is the last living local practitioner of the haunting and hypnotic Bentonia blues tradition. First recorded by Skip James in the 1930s, this regional style has a deep and otherworldly sound that is often characterized by obscure tunings, ethereal guitar picking and lonesome vocals. In a lineage that spans nearly a century, Jimmy "Duck" Holmes stands alone as the only player left from the area, the sole connection between the past, present and future of the music.
