Crotesque

Rare recording of the trio version of Sean Lennon's Mystical Weapons (their only other release is Greg and Sean duo on Sean's label). This is Sean Lennon's improvisational collaboration with Deerhoof drummer Greg Saunier; artist, animator and projectionist Martha Colburn (not heard on recording, but accompanying video exists with her projections); and multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily. Both Sean and Shahzad share electric guitars, basses, and keyboards. The trio version of Mystical Weapons has only performed about three times together and never released a recording. Sean Lennon & Greg Saunier (Mystical Weapons) are joined by multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire Shahzad Ismaily for this one sided art piece with original etching by Sean Lennon himself. The session was captured for the the WNYC show "Spinning on Air" with David Garland in early January, and is now released exclusively for Record Store Day Black Friday 2013 in a one time pressing of 1,500 units.
