Celebration (Mod)

Celebration is one of the great undiscovered sessions of the spiritual-jazz era, reissued on 180-gram blue vinyl. By the late 1970s, Hadley Caliman had long since paid his dues - raised on tenor by Dexter Gordon, seasoned in Gerald Wilson's orchestra, and called for sessions with Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Henderson and Santana. Cut for the West Coast Catalyst label, the album locks his tenor and flute in with Elvin Jones at the drum kit and Hotep Cecil Barnard on piano. A collector's obscurity for far too long, it's a fierce, soulful set that more than earns it's overdue return to vinyl.
